The House of Anu

King Anu is first and foremost an elder — an elegant man of great wisdom, knowledge and stature. His conduct and demeanour are admired by his political and military advisers, and his authority is respected by most. He is a happy man, the people's King, bestowing blessings and gifts to his people in the cities of the Golden Banner. Anu often travels without armed guards to reinforce his philosophy of peace — a habit that will lead to a deadly assassination attempt.

Anu has moved away from his earlier reign of terror and violence, when he was addicted to the Elixir, and has learned that benevolence is a more powerful force. Yet his violent past and ever-evolving arsenal of doomsday weaponry is as well known as his kindness. He would argue that his old methods were a necessity, and that — much like on Earth today — his weaponry is a deterrent to greater wars.

What Anu does not see is the rift developing inside the Royal Bloodline. Jealousy and ambition flow like rivers of poison, especially between his sons Enkil and Cassius. Anu will cede the throne to Enkil, unaware that he and the First Lady have long plotted against him. The peace and calm of Anu's reign is about to end.

Enkil is the older brother of Cassius and, as eldest, would ordinarily be next in line to the throne — but his mother is a Treaty Wife, and Cassius was born of a higher-ranking princess, so his brother has an equally strong claim. Enkil is the step-son of Queen Lusket, who comes from a powerful military background. He is the epitome of the alpha male: strong, powerful, handsome. He looks like the perfect future king.

As Enkil gains power he attains more Elixir, which breeds a grim disdain for all but himself. His pleasure demands humiliation or torture, made worse by the side effects of the Elixir, which pull out his inner demons and deep-rooted pain. The root of his disdain lies in the Royal Treaties — particularly marriage treaties and the resulting offspring. He fears the Royal Bloodline is being diluted.

He considers himself alone. His purpose is a return to his own pure roots, his birth mother's planet. His great weakness is his equally deviant step-mother, Queen Lusket, and their incestuous relationship. Each is incapable of tender emotion, yet beneath the brutality they have salvaged an extraordinary bond of loyalty forged in shared hatred of Anu and the Royal Courts.

Through the film Cassius is transformed from a reluctant outsider living his life in the 6th — the metaverse — into a ruthless realm leader, ultimately sacrificing his moral integrity for power and loyalty to his father and his house. Cassius is the 4th son of Anu and is known as the best qualified to take the throne after him.

Anu had Cassius with an alien princess, Anilla, a gift from the highness of Planet Ikkerus — a peaceful civilisation of great beauty and culture. Cassius carries the essence of Ikkerus's advanced knowledge in his DNA, granting him greater understanding than the other royals, his brother Enkil and the current Queen. His innate kindness is often seen as weakness. It is not: his integrity, honesty and wisdom are a great strength.

He is isolated in the palace for refusing to engage in the Elixir and the warmongering of the House of Anu. He knows his mother Anilla was Anu's favourite and was murdered — most likely the work of Queen Lusket. He lives in constant danger, not least from Enkil. Hidden away in the 6th Dimension with his future wife Sophia — a choice that will prove a terrible mistake — he studies star maps and Planet X's pathway through the universe, always looking for a way home. As fate would have it, Cassius is chosen by Anu as emissary to Earth, the 'Birth Planet', in search of the Gold they believe can preserve Planet X and its Elixir production.

Daughter of a noble, well respected, highly decorated and thoroughly brutal, ill-tempered Alien Warlord. Her father's violence runs through her blood. Noble in her home land, she is humanoid and seen as a great beauty. Her planet once sent a fleet to attack Planet X for the Elixir; the fleet was repelled and the war continued for many years.

Lusket is a Treaty Wife to Anu and became royalty, so was allowed extended use of the Elixir, which she abuses. The peace brought by Anu leaves her frustrated, isolated and bored. To alleviate her frustrations she takes multiple lovers, including senior heads of Anu's military — and eventually, in secret, her own step-son Enkil.
